One little puppy, head down, his cool moist black nose
Drooping down towards the ground. Poor droopy Snoopy
His little belly, laying atop a rough wooden red shed-
The splintery castle he calls home.
A turbulent thought in his little beagle head
A meaningless life- the true plague of man
No blatant purpose, can Snoopy find
In his day-to-day little beagle life.
No meaning in the sniffs, smells, scents,
Among the grass, gracefully tickling his furry paws
Nor the bone lying in his yard, newly
Extracted from the soft, cool, brown Earth
Nor playing with Charlie, or Woodstock,
Or the Red Baron, soaring through a night raid.
No meaning in the silly puppy pranks
Like licking Lucy's plump scarlet cheek.
Or in the gay melody of Linus and his piano
On the waxed dance floor of a school gym.
Or going to the park, on a gorgeous summer day
To find the best stick, and a rousing game of tug-of-war, or...
What's this? A wagging tail?
Why so happy, Snoopy? What is your secret?
Snoopy wonders it himself, as he turns his little puppy gaze
Toward the calm evening sky, speckled with vibrant celestial bodies
Blazing through the night. Shining on, forever shining
Maybe Snoopy has had it right all along
The purpose is the journey, our small moments the meaning.
No greater meaning to life than simply to be
If a dog can see it, why can't we?
Many great images here -- especially the waxed dance floor. Nice sound to that phrase, too. In a few places, you're probably overusing adjectives -- esp. adjectives in succession. Watch out for this in description!
